Article 1: Scope and Definition of Personal Information

This Privacy Policy applies to the smartphone application “Choppli おうちメンテリマインダー” and its related website operated by Choppli (collectively, the “Services”).

In this Policy, “personal information” means information relating to a living individual that can identify that individual, including information that can be readily combined with other information to identify the individual and personal identification codes, as defined by Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

Article 2: Information Processed by the Services

Information entered in the App

The App processes the following information entered or configured by users:

Maintenance task titles and categories
Scheduled dates and recurrence settings
Notification settings
Optional notes, such as replaced parts or contractor names
Task completion history
Task creation and update dates

This information is stored in a database on the user’s device. The current App implementation does not transmit this information to Choppli.

Notification information

When a user enables reminders, the App requests notification permission from the device and schedules local notifications using the task title, scheduled date, and selected notification timing. These notifications are processed on the user’s device.

Advertising information

The App integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK to display banner advertisements. When an advertisement is requested or displayed, Google may automatically collect or receive information such as:

IP address, which may be used to estimate a general location
App launches, taps, advertisement views, and other interaction information
Diagnostic and performance information relating to the App and advertising SDK
Device, app, account, and advertising identifiers where available
The name of the App and information associated with an advertising request

Information submitted through the contact form

When a user submits the contact form, Choppli receives the bug report, feature request, privacy inquiry, or other information entered by the user. Users should not include passwords or personal information that is unnecessary for the inquiry.

The contact form is provided using Google Forms. If a user chooses to sign in to a Google Account or otherwise uses Google Forms, Google may process account information, IP address, device and browser information, cookies, and access information in accordance with Google’s policies and the user’s settings.

Article 3: Purposes of Use

Information processed through the Services is used for the following purposes:

To register, display, edit, schedule, and manage home-maintenance tasks
To calculate future scheduled dates and maintain task completion history
To provide local reminder notifications when enabled by the user
To display and measure advertisements
To prevent fraudulent or abusive advertising activity
To maintain the performance, security, and stability of the Services
To review bug reports, feature requests, privacy inquiries, and other feedback submitted through the contact form
To improve the Services based on submitted feedback

Information entered into maintenance tasks is used only for the App’s task-management and notification functions and is not used by Choppli for advertising.

Article 4: Advertising and Google Mobile Ads

The App uses Google Mobile Ads, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google may use information collected through the advertising SDK to provide advertisements, measure advertising effectiveness, prevent fraud and abuse, and, depending on the user’s settings and eligibility, personalize advertisements.

Users may review or change their advertising preferences through their device settings and Google My Ad Center. Disabling personalized advertisements does not necessarily prevent advertisements from being displayed.

Article 5: Contact Form and External Services

Choppli uses Google Forms to receive bug reports, feature requests, privacy inquiries, and other feedback. Information submitted through the form is transmitted to and stored using Google’s systems.

Google’s handling of information is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Users who do not wish to provide personal information should avoid entering it in the form unless it is necessary for their inquiry.

Article 6: Provision to Third Parties and Processing Outside Japan

Choppli does not provide maintenance task information stored locally on a user’s device to third parties.

Advertising-related information described in Article 2 may be transmitted directly from the App to Google through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Information submitted through the contact form is transmitted to Google Forms and made available to Choppli.

Google may process information on servers located outside Japan in accordance with its privacy policy and applicable laws.

Except for the use of these external services or cases permitted or required by applicable laws, Choppli will not provide personal data held by Choppli to a third party without the individual’s consent.

Article 7: Storage, Correction, and Deletion of App Data

Maintenance task information and completion history are stored locally on the user’s device. Users can edit task information within the App. Archived task information remains stored in the App’s local database.

Users may remove locally stored App information by using the app-data deletion functions provided by their device or by deleting the App. Information may remain in device backups depending on the operating system and backup settings.

Because Choppli does not receive locally stored task information, Choppli cannot access, correct, or delete that information on the user’s behalf.

Article 8: Requests Concerning Personal Data

A person may request disclosure, correction, deletion, or suspension of use of retained personal data held by Choppli in accordance with applicable law. Choppli may request information reasonably necessary to confirm the identity of the person making the request and to identify the relevant information.

Requests may be submitted through the contact form provided in Article 14. Requests concerning information processed independently by Google must be made using the procedures provided by Google.

Article 9: Security Measures

Choppli takes reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the Services to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure of information.

Maintenance task information is stored locally within the App’s database. According to Google’s documentation, information collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted while in transit.

No method of electronic storage or communication can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Article 10: Information Relating to Minors

If a minor uses the Services and the consent of a parent or guardian is required under applicable law, the minor should use the Services only after obtaining that consent.

Users should avoid entering unnecessary personal information about themselves or others in task titles, notes, or the contact form.

Article 11: Disclaimers

The App is intended to assist users with managing home-maintenance schedules and deadlines. It does not guarantee that disaster-prevention measures, inspections, maintenance work, or contract renewals will be completed or that a home or its equipment will remain safe.

Users should confirm important contract terms and deadlines using the relevant contracts or official documents. Users should consult an appropriately qualified professional if they have concerns regarding the condition or safety of a building or its equipment.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Choppli is not responsible for losses arising from information obtained through external websites, services, or advertisements, or from a user’s reliance on the Services beyond their intended purpose.

Article 12: Copyright, Portrait Rights, and External Links

Copyright and other intellectual property rights in content provided through the Services belong to Choppli or the applicable rights holder. Content may not be reproduced, republished, modified, or distributed beyond the scope permitted by applicable law without authorization from the rights holder.

If content is believed to infringe copyright, portrait rights, or other rights, the matter may be reported through the contact form provided in Article 14.

The website, contact form, and advertisements may contain links to external websites or services. The handling of information on an external website or service is governed by the privacy policy and terms of its operator. Choppli does not control the content or information-handling practices of external services.

Article 13: Changes to This Policy

Choppli may revise this Policy when necessary due to changes in the Services, applicable laws, or external services. A revised Policy will take effect when it is posted on the website, unless otherwise stated.

If a change materially affects users’ rights or the handling of information, Choppli will provide notice through a method appropriate to the nature of the change.
