Privacy Policy

Article 1: Scope and Basic Approach

This Privacy Policy explains how Choppli handles information in connection with the Savings Counter smartphone application (the “App”) and its related website (the “Website”). Choppli handles personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable rules.

In this Policy, “personal information” has the meaning given to it by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

Article 2: Information Handled by the App

Information stored on the user’s device

The App stores the following information locally on the user’s device:

  • Savings records, including the amount, an optional description, and the date and time of each record
  • App settings, including whether onboarding has been completed and the selected display language
  • Local usage statistics, including launch dates and counts, record dates and counts, use of recording routes, deletion and reset counts, and the number of times the monthly sharing function is used

This locally stored information is used to provide the App’s recording, summary, history, settings, and improvement-related functions. The App does not send these savings records, settings, or local usage statistics to a server operated by Choppli.

Users can delete individual savings records or all savings records from within the App. Other locally stored App data can be removed by deleting the App, subject to the device operating system and any backup or restore settings controlled by the user or platform provider.

Sharing initiated by the user

The App can open the device’s sharing function with a text summary of monthly results. Information is provided to a selected third-party app or recipient only when the user chooses to share it. The selected service’s own terms and privacy policy apply after the information is shared.

Article 3: Website Access Information and Cookies

When a user accesses the Website, technical information necessary to deliver the page, such as the IP address, access date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser or device type, and user-agent information, may be transmitted to the web server.

The Website is operated using WordPress and may use cookies or similar browser storage where necessary for site operation, security, or user settings. Users can restrict or delete cookies through their browser settings, although doing so may affect some site functions.

Article 4: Contact Form

Choppli uses Google Forms to receive bug reports and feature requests. When a user submits the form, Choppli receives the information voluntarily entered in the report or request. Google may also process technical, device, browser, account, or access information in accordance with Google’s own policies.

The submitted information is used to review reported issues, consider requested improvements, maintain the App and Website, and prevent misuse. The form states that individual replies are not provided. Users should not submit passwords, payment information, confidential information, or other sensitive information that is unnecessary for the report.

The contact form is available at No Buy Savings Tracker – Bug reports and feature request.

Article 5: Advertising through Google AdMob

The App integrates Google AdMob to load banner and interstitial advertisements. In connection with ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention, Google and its advertising partners may collect or use information such as IP addresses, device and app identifiers, advertising identifiers where available, device information, and information about ad impressions or interactions.

Depending on the user’s region, settings, consent choices, and eligibility, advertising may be personalized or non-personalized. Users can review or change available advertising controls through their device settings and Google My Ad Center.

For more information, please see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Article 6: Provision to Third Parties and Processing Outside Japan

Choppli does not sell personal information. Information may be processed by Google when users access the Google Forms contact form or when the App uses Google AdMob, as described in this Policy. Google maintains servers in multiple countries, and information may therefore be processed outside Japan. The countries and processing locations may vary depending on Google’s service infrastructure.

Information shared by a user through the device’s sharing function is provided to the third-party service or recipient selected by that user.

Article 7: Security Measures

Choppli takes reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the information under its control to help prevent unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. Information stored locally by the App is also affected by the security, backup, and access-control settings of the user’s device. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Article 8: Requests concerning Personal Information

Users may submit requests concerning access, correction, deletion, or suspension of use of personal information held by Choppli through the contact form in Article 4. Choppli will review each request within the scope required by applicable law and may ask for information reasonably necessary to identify the relevant record or confirm the requester’s identity.

Data stored only on the user’s device is not held by Choppli and should be managed using the App’s deletion functions or the device’s App-management functions.

Article 9: Information concerning Minors

If a minor provides personal information through the contact form, the minor should obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian when required based on the minor’s age and circumstances. The App and Website are not specifically directed to children.

Article 10: External Services and Links

The App and Website may link to services operated by third parties, including Google Forms and Google privacy or advertising settings pages. Choppli does not control how those third parties handle information. Users should review the terms and privacy policies of the relevant service.

Article 11: Disclaimer, Copyright, and Related Rights

Disclaimer

The Website provides information about the App, but does not guarantee any particular savings result. Choppli makes reasonable efforts to keep the information accurate and current, but the content may be changed or removed. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Choppli is not responsible for losses arising solely from the use of external websites or services linked from the App or Website.

Copyright, portrait rights, and other rights in text, images, designs, and other content on the Website belong to Choppli or their respective rights holders. Unauthorized reproduction or reuse is prohibited except as permitted by law. If a user believes that content infringes their rights, they may notify Choppli through the contact form in Article 4.
