Privacy Policy

Article 1: Scope and Definition of Personal Information

This Privacy Policy explains how Choppli (the “Operator”) handles information in connection with the “My Name to Kanji” smartphone application (the “App”) and this website (the “Website”).

In this Policy, “personal information” means information relating to a living individual that falls within the definition provided by Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

Article 2: Information We Handle and How We Obtain It

1. Information stored on the user’s device

The name entered by the user, the generated kanji name, selected illustration, card settings, and saved card history are processed and stored on the user’s device. The App has no server of its own and makes no network requests, so this information never leaves the device.

2. Advertising information

When advertisements are displayed in the App, Google Mobile Ads may process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, general location inferred from the IP address, device information, ad impressions, interactions, and similar information, depending on the user’s device settings and consent choices.

3. Website access information

When a user accesses the Website, the web server and services used to deliver the Website may process technical information necessary to respond to the request, such as an IP address, browser and device information, access date and time, referrer, and requested URL.

4. Contact information

When a user contacts the Operator through the contact form, the information entered in the form and related submission information are obtained through Google Forms.

Article 3: Purposes of Use

The Operator uses the information described above for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the App and Website
  • To display, measure, and manage advertisements
  • To respond to inquiries
  • To protect the security and availability of the App, Website, and related systems

Article 4: On-Device Storage, Saving, and Sharing

Saved card history and related names and settings are stored on the user’s device. Users can delete individual cards or all saved cards from within the App. Removing the App may also remove data stored within the App, depending on the operating system and backup settings.

When a user chooses to save a card, the App writes the image to the device’s photo library after any required device permission is granted. When a user chooses to share a card, the device’s sharing function is opened. Information is provided to another service only when the user selects that service and completes the sharing action. The selected service handles the shared information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Article 5: Product Analytics

The App does not collect product analytics. It sends no usage events, and it does not create or store any identifier for the device. Earlier versions of the App sent limited usage events to an endpoint operated by the Operator; that endpoint has been removed and is no longer used.

Article 6: Advertising and Similar Technologies

The App uses Google Mobile Ads, including rewarded, banner, and interstitial ad formats where enabled. Google and its partners may use advertising identifiers and technologies that perform functions similar to cookies in mobile apps to deliver and measure ads and, depending on the user’s choices, personalize advertising.

Where applicable, the App uses Google’s consent-management functionality before requesting ads. Users can also manage advertising identifiers and personalized-ad settings through their device settings and Google’s settings.

Article 7: External Services and Contact Form

The App and Website use or link to the following external services:

  • Google Mobile Ads for advertising
  • Google Forms for inquiries

These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.

The Website may contain links to or content from third-party services. When a user visits an external service, that service may collect information under its own privacy policy.

Article 8: Provision to Third Parties and Processing Outside Japan

The Operator does not provide personal information to third parties except where necessary to use the service providers described in this Policy, where the user has given consent, or where permitted by applicable laws and regulations.

Google is operated by an entity outside Japan, and information processed through its services may be transferred to or processed in countries or regions outside Japan. The specific processing location may vary according to each provider’s service configuration and policies. Users should review the privacy policies linked above for further information.

Article 9: Security Measures

The Operator takes reasonable organizational and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information handled, including keeping the information the App handles on the device, operating no server that could receive it, creating no device identifier, and providing an in-App control that deletes every saved card. These measures do not guarantee that every security risk can be eliminated.

Article 10: Requests for Disclosure, Correction, Deletion, or Suspension of Use

Users may contact the Operator using the contact form regarding requests for disclosure, correction, deletion, suspension of use, or other handling of personal information. The Operator may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify the requester and identify the relevant information, and will respond in accordance with applicable laws and the nature of the request.

Information stored only on the user’s device can be managed or deleted through the App or the device. The Operator cannot directly access or delete information that has not been sent to or retained by the Operator.

Article 11: Information Concerning Minors

The App is not intended for children under 13. A minor who uses the App or submits information through the contact form should do so with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian as appropriate.

Article 12: Disclaimer, Intellectual Property, and External Links

The App creates Japanese-inspired kanji names and original anime-style character cards for entertainment and creative use. Results are not official translations, legal names, or culturally verified Japanese names. Users should consult a native Japanese speaker before using a result for a tattoo, legal name, or official purpose.

The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, availability, or suitability of information or generated results. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator is not responsible for damage arising from a user’s use of the App, Website, generated results, advertisements, or linked external services.

Copyright, portrait rights, trademarks, and other rights in content appearing in the App or Website belong to the Operator or their respective rights holders. Users must not reproduce or use such content beyond the scope permitted by applicable law without authorization.

The Operator does not control external websites or services and is not responsible for their content, availability, or handling of information.

Article 13: Changes to This Policy

The Operator may revise this Policy when the App, Website, services used, or applicable requirements change. The revised Policy will take effect when posted on this page, unless otherwise stated.
